The FAMU-FSU College of Engineering’s annual Green & Gold 2019 Tailgate party was a big success this year with more than 400 people in attendance. This is the second year of the festive event that celebrates the partnership between the two universities.

This year the party promised an evening of fun and festivities with alumni and friends and did not disappoint. Rattler and Seminole engineering students at the college shared food, entertainment and games during the fall celebration that is held the night before one or both of the university home football games.

Treated with a barbecue catered by the Four Rivers restaurant, attendees had the opportunity to see the FAMU Marching 100 up close. The band featured performers from their freshmen class who put on quite a show for the cheering crowd. After the band’s performance, the FSU Feature Twirlers performed a fiery routine, flinging flaming batons high into the air as they wooed folks with their daring antics. The FSU cheerleaders also stopped by to mingle with the crowd. Music was provided by 98.9 radio and VWR, Avantor Sciences had a table with giveaways for the event. They also sponsored all the beverages for the event.

Several student organizations competed in a decoration and design tailgate competition to show FAMU and FSU pride. The tailgates decorated tables and cars to show their organization’s spirit and creativity. The competition was judged by Dean Gibson and administrators from the college. Attendees also participated in a Twitter poll to choose their favorite tailgate. Winners were awarded funding for their organization’s travel needs.

This year the American Society of Civil Engineers-Florida Engineering Society (ASCE-FES-ACI) took first place. Second place went to Theta Tau and Third place went to the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME).

Congratulations to all the participants of the challenge! 2020 Green & Gold promises to be bigger and better next year.
