The Department of Mechanical Engineering at the Florida A&M University-Florida State University College of Engineering is pleased to invite applications for a tenure-track faculty position in the city of Tallahassee, Florida, in the area of Experimental Aerodynamics and Experimental Gas Dynamics. This position is at the assistant professor level, but well-qualified candidates will be considered at a higher rank.
The FAMU-FSU College of Engineering is the unique combination of two outstanding universities with overlapping but distinct missions - the Nation's top Historically Black College/University with a Tier-1 research university. As such, we provide an exceptional research and entrepreneurship-driven education to one of the most diverse student populations in the US. Faculties are employed by one of the two partner universities, but hold joint faculty privileges at both institutions.
Candidates must possess an earned Ph.D. in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or a closely related discipline, demonstrate the ability to create and sustain an internationally recognized research program in their field of expertise, and have a strong interest in engineering education.
The ME Department currently has about 27 faculty, 85 graduate students, 360 undergraduate students, and annual research expenditures exceeding $6.5 M. The Department has outstanding research facilities housed within the Florida Center for Advanced Aero-Propulsion (FCAAP) including low-speed and high-speed (Transonic through Hypersonic) wind tunnels, jet facilities, advanced flow diagnostics, and high-performance computational resources.
