Mr. Dontè Ford was born in Gainesville, Florida and graduated from Suwannee County High School in Live Oak, Florida in 1987. He received the BSEET in April 1992 from Florida A&M University Department of Engineering Technology. He joined the Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering in August 1994 as a Laboratory Sr. Stores Manager. In this position, he successfully kept the instructional laboratories stock with the necessary electrical and electronic components required for laboratory instructions. He implemented a safety program for instructional laboratory personnel.
In 2001, Sr. Teaching Laboratory Specialist- he serves as the primary contact person for instructional laboratories. Instructional Laboratories are the following: Introduction to Electrical Engineering Laboratory, Advanced Circuits Laboratory, Digital Logic Laboratory, Electronics I & II Laboratory, Microprocessors Laboratory, Electromagnetic Fields Laboratory, Power & Energy Laboratory, and Senior Design Laboratory.
The Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering has an Electronic Facility for milling printed circuit boards (pcb). This facility allows a student to implement an electronic circuit design analyzed using a CAD tool to PCB. After completion of pcb, the student may use electronic instrumentation to verify their design such as digital multimeters, oscilloscopes, power supplies, logic analyzers, and signal/arbitrary waveform generators.
