Non-Tenure Track Position

The Department of Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering at Florida A&M University- Florida State University College of Engineering and Florida State University Panama City jointly invites applications for a faculty position in our Systems Engineering Master’s Degree Program housed at FSU PC. This position is a 9- or 12- month, full-time, specialized, non-tenure track, faculty position with opportunities for promotion and multi-year contracts. The successful candidate will have responsibilities in teaching, advising and student recruiting. The position is expected to begin Fall 2019 with the potential to start earlier (i.e., Spring or Summer 2019) if circumstances warrant it.

The Panama City campus of FSU is located 100 miles west of Tallahassee on the beautiful St. Andrews Bay and is only three miles from the sparkling waters of the Gulf of Mexico. FSU Panama City currently houses 19 bachelor's programs and 8 master's programs and boasts a small faculty-to-student ratio, which gives students a more personalized academic experience. The FAMU-FSU College of Engineering is unique in combining two outstanding universities with overlapping but distinct missions - the nation's top Historically Black College/University with one of the nation's ~100 Highest Research Activity Universities. As such we provide an outstanding research and entrepreneurship based education to one of the most diverse student populations in the US.

The IME Department presently has 14 faculty members, ABET accredited B.S. programs in industrial engineering with 175 undergraduate students, and M.S. and Ph.D. programs in industrial and manufacturing engineering and engineering management with over 60 graduate students. A new M.S program in systems engineering will begin in Fall 2018.
The IME department provides excellent research opportunities as home of the High-Performance Materials Institute. Additional research opportunities are available through collaboration with several FAMU and FSU laboratories/centers including the National High Magnetic Field Laboratory, the Center for Advanced Power Systems, and the Center of Research Excellence in Science and Technology*. Over the last 5 years, the annual research expenditures have averaged approximately $2.5 million from multiple sources including active NSF and DoD grants. According to ASEE, over the past 10 years, our research expenditures per faculty have ranked among the top 5 IE departments.
