FAMU-FSU FWEA Student chapter wins first place at conference design competition

The FAMU-FSU student chapter of the Florida Water Environment Association won first prize in the student design competition at West Palm Beach, FL this year. The competition is a segment of the Florida Water Resources Conference annual program. The design team were awarded a $1,000 Norm Casey Scholarship and a $4,000 travel allowance to move on to the national competition at the Water Environment Federation Technical Exhibition & Conference held this year in Chicago.

"They designed a facility to treat industrial wastewater containing phenol based on a class project," reports Youneng Tang, faculty advisor of the student chapter and assistant professor in civil and environmental engineering. "Congratulations to our students!"

"We brought our first FWEA SDC championship award home," exclaimed Simeng Li, the team leader of the FAMU-FSU FWEA winning team.
