Welcome to the FAMU/FSU college of engineering senior design web site for Cummins Group 1. The following project took place during the fall 2004 and spring 2005 semesters. Purpose The purpose of this project is to design test fixtures that will be used to evaluate the fatigue life and failure of threaded bolt joints within a Cummins diesel engine. The joints in question are that of the connecting rod and the main bearing cap within the engine. The fixtures are to be compatible with an MTS servo- hydraulic machine, which will be used to carry out the fatigue tests. Sponsor Cummins Inc.
